WHO WE ARE

Keeping Othoni identity alive

A small association doing real work: preserving traditions, supporting community life, and sharing what makes this island worth protecting.

Keeping Othoni identity alive

Why this association exists

Rooted in our deep love for Othoni, our association was created with one simple purpose: to support, preserve, and celebrate our beautiful island. Othoni is more than just a place on the map — it is our home, our heritage, and a source of pride for all of us.

Through cultural events, community initiatives, and collective efforts, we work to keep our traditions alive, strengthen the bonds between islanders and friends of Othoni, and contribute to the island's growth and well-being. Whether you live here, have roots here, or simply love visiting, you are part of the Othoni family.

Together, with passion and respect for our history and natural beauty, we continue to support and promote everything that makes Othoni so special.

Understanding the vital importance of blood availability — and the ongoing shortage of donations — our goal is not only to ensure that units are available whenever they are needed, but also to raise awareness and actively promote the value of regular blood donation. Through solidarity and collective effort, we can help save lives and strengthen our community.

Community

Helping and caring for one another is essential — especially in a place located far from immediate hospital access. While we are fortunate to have defibrillators on the island, equipment alone is not enough. It is equally important that people know basic first aid and feel confident using life-saving tools in an emergency. In cooperation with the Hellenic Red Cross - Corfu Branch, we organized our first First Aid Seminar, with many more planned for the future. This initiative is not only about helping people feel safer in emergency situations, but also about raising awareness of how vital first aid knowledge can be. With proper training and preparedness, every one of us has the potential to make a life-saving difference.

Community

Our support extends beyond our own community. In 2023, the people of Othoni came together to collect essential supplies for those affected by the floods in central Greece. The donations were delivered to the Hellenic Red Cross - Corfu Branch and then distributed to those in need. This initiative not only offered meaningful help, but also showed how even small communities can make a big difference.
